They all had a coach or a mentor to guide them to discover their strengths and to reach their true potential. Behind every successful person is someone who mentors them, believes in them, and challenges them to be more. Napoleon Hill, famous author of "Think and Grow Rich" emphatically acknowledges the enormous role Andrew Carnegie played in mentoring him on his path to success. There are countless stories of how mentors and coaches have inspired people to live their ultimate dreams. A coach is someone to hold you accountable. Accountable to reach higher levels of satisfaction in every area of your life.

Why does coaching work?

Coaching works because we center on the most important parts of you; your needs, values, goals and vision. A coach believes you have the answers and is trained to bring them out (painlessly)! I want you to have a life that inspires you and the people around you. I want you to have fulfillment and success without paying a price. You live in a challenging world and it is very easy to get off track with what is most important to you. A coach will keep you focused and on purpose.

Here's an interesting question . . .Who can you discuss your concerns and uncertainties with? Talking to people in your work environment may put you at risk. Talking to family members who are emotionally involved with you may not hear you clearly. They may bring their agenda to the situation. Yet, the concerns you have don't seem to call for formal therapy. Coaching is a great solution! Coaching works because you have someone you can confide in and get straight answers from. When you have a relationship where you can "tell the truth", you have a foundation for results.

What kinds of results can you expect?

  1. You will make better decisions for yourself and your career. As your coach, my main responsibility is for you to maintain a clear focus. Sharing ideas with someone who understands you and is subjective enough to want a lot for you, yet objective enough not to be biased or self-serving is extremely valuable. Just your talking about your options with a coach who can listen, is often enough to have it become clear.

  7. Eliminate the hassles of life. Stop suffering, tolerating, waiting, hoping. Calm down: eliminate adrenaline, stress, and rackets. Get complete with your past.
  8. Raise your standards and extend your boundaries. We will discuss the standards you are willing to set up in your life. Standards are a worthwhile game you create for yourself. You will set standards that bring out your best. When you extend your boundaries, you will have a significant amount of growth. New choices and possibilities will present themselves to you.

How does coaching work?

Coaching is successful because it is done with weekly sessions by telephone or in person, whichever is more convenient. As your coach I will help you solve problems and make the most of opportunities. If you are too close to a situation, it can be difficult for you to "step out of the box" and evaluate what is really happening.

Each week I will give you homework. Don't worry, it's not like homework from grade school. These are tasks, actions, results, or changes you will commit to completing before our next call. The homework is to get you to take action on what we are working on and to integrate it into your life.

Part of working with me as your coach is that I will ask a lot of you. Not too much, but certainly more than you may have been asking recently. To challenge you. My challenge for you is for you to be successful, healthy and happy, for you to have a strong financial and emotional base. To enjoy your life right now . . . not after "everything works out". I will make bold requests. I want a lot for you. I will not push any agenda of any kind. I only ask for "your" best. Not to be "the best", but for you to be "your best".

For our relationship to work there are several things I will need from you . . .

  1. To be on time for every call or meeting. Make our time a priority, because it is.
  2. Come to the call or meeting prepared to work.
  3. Let me know what to do differently if something isn't working. Don't assume
    that I know you as well as you know yourself.

Coaching is not something I do to you. It is a process that we do together. There are certain things you need to be willing to do in order for us to accomplish what you want.

Here are some things we will discuss in our session:

  The successes and wins you've had during the week.
The concerns you are facing right now .
A plan of action to accomplish a goal.
Problems you faced and how you handled them. Life does have it's share of challenges and problems. Just by telling me your challenges it can take away some of the sting. Once you've been heard, the solution (and there is always a solution) can present itself.
New insights. An insight is like an "a-ha" - basically a truth that you just realized. Insights help you realign with yourself and your vision. It's important to share your insights with me because after the insight, results follow, especially when you can articulate the "real insight".
Breakthroughs. A breakthrough is a combination of an insight, a win and an alignment with truth. After you've had a breakthrough, you feel great! Energized, ready for action, relieved and clear. Sharing your breakthrough will create the space for you to validate it with action or an accomplishment.
When you've gone the extra mile. A little effort is good for you. It keeps your body, mind and soul in shape so you can take advantage of life's opportunities. When you've kept you're word in a challenging situation, stuck with something when everyone else gave up, or honored your standards when it might have been easier to lower them, tell me. It means you've grown stronger.
New skills and strategies you want to develop .
Any upsets. I'm here to help you sort out what happened to upset you and
design a plan to get through this one and help you prevent it from happening
Your fears. Do you ever hesitate? Get scared? Stop yourself from moving forward? Good, you passed the humanity test. ( I've passed the test as well!) Together we can create a plan to help you to move through your fears.
New ideas. As your coach I'm committed to creating a safe and nurturing space for your ideas. I'm not here to debate the merits of the idea with you. I will listen and have you develop your thoughts to make the most, personally and financially, of your idea.
What you are ready to take on .
A completion. "Our lives are spent doing what we are incomplete about." Until we are complete, we do the same things repeatedly in a futile attempt to get complete so that we can move on and express our values. Whenever you finish a project, complete a task, catch up on a promise, make something right, you open your life to more good stuff. One of our objectives is for you to complete everything in your life.

People have asked me . . . Why did I become a coach?

The first reason is I'm ecstatic about being in a profession that allows me to use all the resources, talents, skills and abilities I've accumulated and been blessed with. I have a very extensive tool kit for any situation that can arise. You could say I'm a people expert! When you're truly living your purpose and mission it is a real gift! I'm grateful to be able to live my life's purpose.

The second reason is I get paid to learn! I admit it, I'm insatiable when it comes to learning. For the past ten years I've read over 800 books, attended seminars with the most incredible speakers, and turned my car into a university on wheels by listening to audio tapes. (My degree is in cassette.) I'm bursting with information and energy! The bottom line is, every time I read a book, listen to a tape or attend a seminar I increase my value to all my clients. I act as a filter for the most valuable up to date information that is currently available. This filtering process saves my clients significant amounts of time and provides them the opportunity to focus on what is most important to them.

The third reason is being a coach allows me to create balance in my life to pursue my personal and spiritual growth. I will only coach 40 clients per month. There are two reasons for this -- the first one is that I give 100% of my focus and energy to each client. The second reason is my need to maintain balance. For me, it's about walking the talk. I couldn't give you something that I don't have. Hiring my coach was the best decision I've ever made. It has impacted and enriched my life on every level. So much so, that I've dedicated my life to being a coach. My personal results were the spring board in my decision to become a coach!

Perhaps you're wondering why I'm qualified to be your "Coach"? I'm currently president and founder of Powers Research and Training Institute. Also an accomplished speaker, consultant and author. I am a member of the International Coaching Federation and graduate of Coach University. I work mostly on the telephone. It's called telecoaching . You call me at a specific time, usually once per week at the same time each week. The calls last 30 to 60 minutes. The monthly investment (which includes four sessions ) for the 30 minute call is $375, or for a 60 minute call, $600. You can choose how much time you would like. You may meet with me, but most find the telephone to be the most efficient and practical. You can also access me via e-mail and will receive a free newsletter every month.

Once you've decided that a coach is the next step for you, call me to set up your free one hour orientation session . Invest in coaching for one month. If after the month you don't think coaching is for you, or you feel you were not provided with substantial value I will refund your entire investment. No questions asked! To assure you further, I will not deposit your check or run your Mastercard/Visa charge for thirty days.

You have absolutely nothing to lose!

The purpose of your free one hour orientation session is to get you off to a strong start by understanding and identifying your goals, needs and challenges. I enjoy spending this extra time with you to get to know you and build a foundation for our relationship. Together we will design the best way we can work together as a team to accomplish your goals.

Before your free orientation session, I will send you a customized action planner filled with self-assessment tools, goal-setting and tracking forms. The information in your action planner will help you get clear about where you are and where you want to go. I will ask you to make a three to six month commitment to our process that is renewable monthly. Your ability to make a commitment to a long term relationship is important to your life process. Our lives are filled with interesting layers of potential to be uncovered. This is not a quick fix, rather it is a process to create a quality life. As I stated earlier I will only work with 40 clients at a time. I'm currently working with 32 clients. The only reason I tell you this for you to understand the significance of making the call promptly! After 40 clients, I will place my future clients on a waiting list until an opening is available.

How can you get started?

I'll let you know if I can help, and suggest an initial strategy or direction. No sales pitch will be made because I have no need to sell my services to you.
